Mozambique will be looking to claim its second-ever victory at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and advance to the knockout stage for the first time as it faces Cameroon at the Stade Adrar in Agadir on Wednesday.

    Kick-off is at 9pm CAT.

Despite a tough start to the tournament with a 1-0 loss to champions Côte d’Ivoire in their opening game, Mozambique have bounced back spectacularly.

Os Mambas defeated Gabon in a major upset, winning 3-2 at the Stade Adrar on Sunday to claim their first-ever victory at the AFCON finals.

They sit third in the tournament’s so-called “Group of death” with three points and trail both Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire by only one point. They stand poised to strike and could advance to the knockout stage for the first time if they win.

Should they fail to do so, a draw could see them pushed through as one of the four best third-placed teams in the group stage.

Cameroon sits on four points in group F, level with the reigning champions on both points and goal difference.

The Indomitable Lions began their campaign with a 1-0 win over Gabon before drawing 1-1 with the Elephants.

They will be looking to go for maximum points and claim top spot in their group

The group winner will face South Africa, while the runner-up will match-up with Egypt in the round of 16.

In their four previous meetings, Cameroon has claimed victory in all four encounters and will be looking to extend its streak.
