Participating teams in the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) learned their fates on Thursday at the 2026 WAFCON draw in Rabat.

The draw coincided with the ongoing men’s AFCON in Morocco, setting the tone for the 14th edition of the continental championship.

Also hosting the upcoming women’s edition, Morocco was placed in group A alongside neighbouring Algeria, Senegal and Kenya.

South Africa, who claimed the title on Moroccan soil in 2022, was drawn with Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Tanzania in group B.

Reigning champions Nigeria will face Zambia, Egypt – who are returning to the tournament after a 10-year absence – and Malawi in group C.

Group D comprises Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and debutants Cape Verde.

Having lost in the final of the last two editions on home soil, Morocco will be looking to reach the summit for the first time. Perhaps the third time might be the charm for the hosts.

The Super Falcons will be looking to claim a second successive title and an 11th all-time, while Banyana Banyana are aiming to prove they still belong at the top after falling short at the last edition.

The tournament will be held in the North African nation from 17 March to 3 April.
