Former Liverpool star Steve Mcmanaman believes that the Reds are a ‘balanced’ outfit when Mohamed Salah is given the nod in Arne Slot’s starting XI.

With Salah battling to hit the heights of years gone by, the Egyptian star has had an indifferent 2025/26 campaign alongside countless rumours of a move away from the club.

Salah has long been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, however, the ex-Real Madrid midfielder recently expressed that the Merseyside club are lopsided without him.

“I think he gives Liverpool balance,” McManaman said, as per Liverpool.com.

“Whether he has a good game or a bad game is a talking point afterwards, but when he was at AFCON, Liverpool really missed him, they were very lopsided.

“He wants to play on the left, so when he plays and when he scores and when he stars in the game, Liverpool are a much, much better side when he’s in it than when he’s not.

“So I think relationships are fine and I think hopefully we’ll see the best out of him now for the rest of the season.”
