Former Orlando Pirates defender and Nigerian international Olisa Ndah will remain in South Africa’s Betway Premiership after joining Stellenbosch.

The club announced the signing on Tuesday after securing his signature in a free transfer.

The defender arrived in South Africa in August 2021, joining Orlando Pirates from Akwan United in his home country. He spent four-and-a-half seasons with the Buccaneers, making 81 appearances and winning three MTN 8 and two Nedbank Cup titles before he was released in January, as his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Due to prolonged struggles with injury, Ndah has not played yet this season. In addition, he only played 174 minutes across two matches in the 2024/25 season.

“Olisa is a player with proven quality and experience at the highest level, and we are pleased to welcome him to Stellenbosch FC,” said Stellenbosch CEO Rob Benadie.

“We are deliberate in our recruitment strategy to ensure that every signing complements the group, and having had the chance to assess him closely, we are confident he will be a valuable addition to our squad.”

The 28-year-old has represented the Super Eagles on five occasions, last playing for the national teams during its Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign in 2024.

He is set to become the fourth Nigerian player to represent the Cape Winelands side, joining new teammates Ibraheem Jabaar and Kazie Enyinnaya, alongside former Stellenbosch forward Stanley Dimgba.
