TSG 1899 Hoffenheim sporting director Andreas Schicker says that Ivorian star Bazoumana Toure will only leave the German club for big money.

The 20-year-old winger has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in the coming European summer, with Manchester United and Liverpool touted as possible suitors.

The Bouake-born player started his career at ASEC Mimosas, before featuring for Swedish club Hammarby IF from 2024 to 2025, where he registered nine goals and three assists in 23 appearances.

In early 2025, he signed for Hoffenheim, and has since made 40 appearances for the Bundesliga club, with three goals and 14 assists across all competitions.

He has also established himself as a rising force for the Ivorian national team, notably scoring two goals in their run to the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in late 2025 and early 2026.

“Bazou has developed very well. We brought him from Sweden a year and a half ago. You can see week after week what qualities he brings,” Schiker told Sky Deutschland.

Toure could be seen as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, who will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season, while United’s interest will be in adding depth to their attacking options – which already includes his compatriot Amad Diallo and Cameroonian star Bryan Mbeumo – as they expect to return to UEFA Champions League football next term.

However, both clubs would need to stump up a significant fee to end Toure’s association with Hoffenheim, where his contract runs to the end of June 2029.

“With him it’s like this: if there is interest – and it’s noticeable because he delivers every week – then it has to be at a level that Hoffenheim has not seen before,” concluded Schicker.
