Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bathusi Aubaas insists everyone in the squad is ready to seize the opportunity to win a second CAF Champions League title for the club.
The Brazilians conquered Africa for the first time in 2016 and they’ve reached the semi-finals on five occasions since then, while qualifying for back-to-back finals.
MIguel Cardoso’s side have a chance to redeem themselves this term after losing to Pyramids in the 2025 decider, with AS FAR their final opponents this time around.
Bafana Ba Style beat 2024 finalists ES Tunis 2-0 on aggregate in the last four and Cardoso will be contesting his third final in as many years, having been in charge of the Blood and Gold when they lost to Al Ahly.
Aubaas has revealed how the Portuguese tactician has encouraged them to go out and make their own history in May against the Moroccan outfit.
“I will be happy [to beat AS Far], and for us to get there, you have to be humble, work hard and respect the opponent,” Aubaas said. “And on the pitch, you have to bring the correct attitude and right mentality.
“I’m happy we reached back-to-back finals and for our coach it’s the third one in a row. Everyone is happy.
“[Cardoso] has been giving us encouragement to be positive, support one and another and keep on working hard. You have to be focused and you have to keep on working hard.
“Everyone is always ready and whoever is called to come and be in the squad and given an opportunity, you grab it with both hands. We know we have quality players. You can’t mess around when you are given an opportunity like this.”
