Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes that Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo lacked the needed work rate during the Red Devil’s 2-1 win against Brentford in the Premier League on Monday night.
In what was another tough outing for United, Michael Carrick’s side emerged victorious owing to first-half goals by Casemiro and Benjamin Sesko.
United were dominated at Old Trafford for large periods throughout the 90 minutes, while Neville believes that Mbeumo and Diallo often left the midfield pairing of Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro exposed.
The 51-year-old expressed that the African duo could have done better in tucking in alongside the midfield department and branded their performance as near cheating en-route to the win.
“And Mbeumo and Amad in the wide areas, they were really poor at getting back in alongside,” Neville said on the Overlap show, as per United in Focus.
“They were almost half cheating, almost like to go on the counterattack rather than getting back in tight alongside Kobbie and Casemiro.
“I don’t know why they were doing that.”
