Frank Onyeka looks all set to sign for Premier League-bound Coventry on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

The Nigeria international joined the Sky Blues on a six-month loan deal in February after struggling for regular game-time at Brentford during the first half of the campaign.

Onyeka went on to make 14 appearances for Frank Lampard’s side in the Championship – 13 of those as a starter – as they romped to the title to gain promotion to the top flight for the first time in 25 years.

The 28-year-old midfielder’s loan agreement included an obligation to buy if the West Midlands club won promotion and that clause has now been triggered.

Coventry are believed to have offered Onyeka a three-year contract and they will reportedly pay the Bees £9 million to secure his signature on the long term.

The Midtjylland academy graduate featured 87 times for the West Londoners in four and a half seasons, scoring just the one goal in a 2-0 win over Sheffield United on 13 April 2024.
