Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze despite the co-coaches guiding the club to their best finish in six years.

The duo started the season as assistants to Nasreddine Nabi, but they were handed the reins at Naturena on a shared basis after the Tunisian was sacked in October.

Ben Youssef and Kaze did an admirable job as the Glamour Boys secured third place in the Betway Premiership with three games to spare, ensuring continental football for a second consecutive season.

Amakhosi also featured in the CAF Confederation Cup this term, although they failed to qualify for the knockout stages after narrowly losing out to Al Masry on goal difference in Group D.

Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr had praised the co-coaches for their hard work just days ago, but the Soweto giants have decided not to renew the pair’s contracts.

“With the season concluded, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze following the end of their two-year contracts with the Club,” read a statement from Chiefs.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the coaches for their dedication and contribution, and wish them all the best in their future.”
