Inter Milan’s Ange-Yoan Bonny has a shot at going to the 2026 world Cup after switching his allegiance to Ivory Coast from France.

The 22-year-old striker was born in Aubervilliers, which is located in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, and he represented Les Bleus at various youth levels.

Elephants head coach Emerse Fae reached out to Bonny earlier this year and included the youngster in his preliminary squad for the friendly against South Korea on March 28.

The Chateauroux academy graduate is now eligible to play for Fae’s side after FIFA gave the go-ahead and the French Football Federation signed off on his request.

Bonny has made 44 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri, contributing seven goals and seven assists since making the move from Serie A rivals Parma in the off-season.

He will now be looking to impress Fae ahead of the global showpiece in Canada, Mexico and the United States next month, with the West African giants featuring in Group E alongside Germany, Ecuador and debutants Curacao.
