Former Manchester United and Watford striker Odion Ighalo believes that Nigeria international Ademola Lookman can thrive under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Lookman joined Atletico from Atalanta during the January transfer window, as the Spanish giants forked out €35 million for his services, while an additional €5 million are expected to paid in add-ons.

The 28-year-old Nigerian forward became a household name in European football during the last couple of seasons, while he has also been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Upon choosing Atletico as his preferred destination, Ighalo believes that Simeone can get the best out of the 2024 CAF Player of the Year.

“Playing under Diego Simeone will benefit Ademola Lookman,” the former Manchester United striker said, as per Africa Top Sport.

“Simeone is a tactical and intelligent coach. I consider this transfer to Atlético Madrid to be a major step forward in his career.”
