Egypt could make it three wins in succession in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations this coming week as the Pharaohs prepare to take on Angola in their final Group B match at the Adrar Stadium on Monday evening. Kick-off is at 6:00pm CAT.
Egypt advanced to the knockout phase of the AFCON tournament with a game to spare following a 1-0 win against South Africa at the Adrar Stadium on Friday.
As it stands, the Egyptians are first in Group B on six points, followed by South Africa in second position with three points to their name.
Angola are in an awkward position in Group B and will need a victory against Egypt to stand any chance of progressing to the next round. Palancas Negras trail South Africa by two points in third position, while Zimbabwe are in fourth place with one point to their name after matchday two.
Reflecting on Egypt’s win over South Africa, particularly after Bafana Bafana were denied a late penalty shout, The Pharaohs mentor expressed that he trusts the officials’ judgements.
“No comment on the referees’ decisions. I trust the continent’s and the tournament’s referees, and I do not interfere in their decisions,” Hassan.
“My goal is to make the Egyptian people happy, and football is a source of joy for the Egyptian citizen.
“I play every match as if it were a cup final, and African football has become strong because of professionalism.”
