Uganda and Tanzania will both be looking to register their first points at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations when they face-off at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm CAT.
Despite a valiant effort, Tanzania fell to Nigeria 2-1 in its opening game of the tournament in Fez. The Taifa Stars found themselves down by a goal at half time, but Charles M’Mombwa pulled his side level just after the restart. However, the Super Eagles struck back immediately with Ademola Lookman restoring their lead just two minutes later.
Uganda faced a tough challenge in its first game of the continental showpiece, falling to Tunisia 3-1 in Rabat. The Cranes were outclassed but managed to pull back a consolation goal in second-half stoppage time through Denis Omedi.
The Taifa Stars sit in this place in the group, three points behind leaders Nigeria and Tunisia. With a worse goal difference, the Cranes sit bottom of the group.
The Taifa Stars are a team struggling to find their form. They are currently on a seven-match winless run and have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six games.
Uganda has lost its last three matches and will also be looking to end its winless run.
The two sides have met on six previous occasions, with an equal record of two wins each to go alongside two draws. This will be their first meeting at AFCON.
Now in their fourth appearance at the continental showpiece, Tanzania will be looking to do what it has never managed before; progressing past the group stage.
Re-appearing at the tournament for the first time since 2019, Uganda is aiming to revive its glory days and return to the final for the first time since the 1978 edition in Ghana.
