Algeria international Luca Zidane underwent surgery and confirmed that the operation went very well, describing it as “more of a scare than any real damage.”

The Granada CF goalkeeper reassured fans that he will be back on the pitch very soon, boosting hopes for his return ahead of Algeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The positive recovery news comes as a timely boost for the Desert Foxes, but it is unclear whether the player will be ready for the global tournament scheduled for June and July.

“The surgery went very well — more of a scare than any real damage,” Zidane said.

“I’ll be back on the pitch very soon. Thank you all so much for your kind messages of support. ”

Luca Zidane, son of French legend Zinedine Zidane, switched his international allegiance from France (where he played at youth level) to Algeria in 2025 through his paternal Algerian grandparents.

The 27-year-old has since represented the Desert Foxes, earning six caps so far, including playing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Algeria will face Argentina, Austria and Jordan in Group J of the upcoming World Cup in North America.
