Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has been named Tanzanian Premier League Coach of the Month for February.

The South African tactician was given the award by the Tanzania Football Federation Awards Committee for his club going undefeated in the domestic league in February, collecting two wins and one draw.

The Reds of Msimbazi claimed 2-0 wins over Kinondoni MC and Tanzania Prisons respectively before being held to a goalless draw by Dodoma Jiji.

With seven of a possible nine points claimed from the month, Simba now sits fourth on the log with 27 points collected from eight wins, three draws and one loss. The club is nine points behind league-leaders Young Africans with two games in hand, having played 12 games to the defending champions’ 14.

Despite being knocked out of the CAF Champions League group stage during February, Barker’s men ended their continental campaign on a high note, drawing with Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Petró de Luanda before winning their final group game against Stade Malien.

Since joining the club during the international break in December, Barker has recorded one loss, five draws and five wins at the helm of the Tanzanian team.
