After much speculation over the past weeks, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to be held from 17 March to 3 April 2026 in Morocco, will now take place from 25 July to 16 August 2026.
The decision came after discussions between CAF and its partners, FIFA and other stakeholders, according to the governing body.
In a statement released on Thursday, CAF stated the postponement was “to ensure the success of this important women’s competition, in the light of certain unforeseen circumstances.”
Despite the delay to the tournament, the governing body says that preparations “are underway and all the parties are confident that it will be very successful.”
No announcement concerning a change of host nation was made.
