ForteBet, Uganda’s betting giant has committed UGX 15 million to fighting the deadly sickle cell disease.

This money was handed over to Isaac Okello, the CEO-Raising Hope International Friends, an organisation that works hand-in-hand with the government of Uganda to fight the scourge.

The money will help in two ways. One, 10 million will boost the Sickle Cell Marathon 2026 scheduled for March 8, in Iganga District. Two, 5 million will go to the Sickle Cell clinic to buy medicine.

“Available information indicates that 20,000 babies are born with sickle cell every year. Unfortunately, due to inadequate treatment and care, 80% of them die before the age of 5.This is very worrying and is the main reason we came on board to save lives,” said Okello while receiving the funds.

Muhangi added that this is the reason ForteBet always joins the cause.
