Young Moroccan talent Othmane Maamma will remain at Watford after the English club turned down offers for him to return to the French top flight.

    This is according to L’Equipe.

The Hornets reportedly turned down multiple concrete offers from Lille and Nantes, ranging between €4-8 million, while Monaco and AS Roma both expressed interest in the young star.

Mamma rose through the ranks at Montpellier, climbing his way from the club’s youth setup to its first team. He made 14 appearances across two seasons for the club’s first team before moving to Watford in July 2025.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2025, finishing as runner-up with Morocco at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations. Maamma went on to make history with the Atlas Cubs, helping them become the first ever African team to win the FIFA U20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament and awarded the Golden Ball. He was later named CAF Young Player of the Year.

Since joining the EFL Championship side, he has racked up three goals and one assist in 16 appearances in the English second tier. Despite a lack of playing time at the start of the season, he has proven himself, starting 14 of a possible 16 games since his triumph at the U20 World Cup.
