Algerian men’s team head coach Vladimir Petković has reportedly accepted a contract extension from the The Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
This is according to Algerian football outlet Squadra Khadra.
The new deal will reportedly see the Bosnian-born coach retain charge of the Fennecs until 2028.
Petković has proven his metal with the national side since joining in February 2024.
He guided the Fennecs through qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) unbeaten, managing five wins and one draws in six games.
The 62-year-old then followed up that campaign by securing the north African nation’s spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup by topping qualifying group G with eight wins, one draw and one loss.
At the recent 2025 AFCON, Algeria topped group E with a perfect three wins from three games and advanced to the quarterfinals where they were eliminated by Nigeria.
With his extension expected to be announced in March, Petković will lead Algeria at the upcoming global showpiece where they are in group J alongside Argentina, Austria and Jordan.
