The South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced a sponsorship deal with Standard Bank.
This was revealed on Monday at the Standard Bank headquarters in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
The sponsorship deal will run for a term of four years though the monetary value of the sponsorship remains confidential, as per Standard Bank’s head of sponsorship Bonga Sebesho.
The deal will cover all South African football national teams, from Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana down to the U15 age group, as stated by both SAFA and Standard Bank representatives at the announcement.
“This partnership reflects the kind of investment that South African football needs,” said SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan at the Standard Bank headquarters.
“Standard Bank’s support will strengthen the competitiveness of our national teams and development structures as they represent our country on the continental and world stage.”
The deal comes at a pivotal time for the association, which struggled to pay its women’s team ahead of last year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), has struggled to secure financial support for its age group teams and had issues with paying bonuses to players.
Banyana Banyana are gearing up for this year’s WAFCON where they will look to secure their spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and Bafana Bafana prepare for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America in June.
