    Scorecard

Craig Overton won an entertaining contest against twin brother Jamie as Trent Rockets edged a thriller by four wickets against London Spirit in the men’s Hundred.

The home side’s chase of 160 went down to the wire with 10 needed off five balls, but Craig audaciously ramped for six before calmly ticking off the remaining runs with two deliveries to spare.

He finished unbeaten on 20 from only six balls as Rockets earned their first win of this year’s tournament.

“He got me out last year so I had to get some payback,” Craig told BBC Sport.

“It’s still a bit weird playing against each other. We’re getting used to it after a few years.

“We’re both very competitive – we both always want to win – so I think the family will be happy with how we played it.”

Rockets’ chase was set up by Ben Duckett’s 75 from 47 balls at the top of the order, an innings which included 12 fours and two sixes and led an impressive recovery after he lost his opening partner Finn Allen for a duck.

Duckett fell with 52 runs needed from 26 balls, which looked to have swung momentum Sprit’s way, but Sam Billings’ 22 off 10 combined with Overton’s knock got them over the line.

Spirit’s batters were guilty of wasting good starts as four of the top five made it past 20 but could not kick on to a contribution like Duckett’s.

Craig Overton also made an impact with the ball as he removed openers Jonny Bairstow and Lhuan-dré Pretorius, before the explosive Liam Livingstone and Dewald Brevis accelerated through the middle phase.

But Rockets’ bowlers held their nerve late in the innings as Spirit lost five wickets for 42 balls, with spinner Calvin Harrison impressing again with 2-25.

Spirit have lost their opening two games and are second from bottom in the table, above Southern Brave.
