Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech bagged his first goal for Wydad AC on Saturday, handing his side a 1-0 victory over RS Berkane at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The former Ajax and Chelsea star netted a penalty deep into second half stoppage time to keep the Red Devils’ unbeaten streak in the Botola Pro 1 alive.
Wydad is unbeaten in the Moroccan league in the 2025/26 season, having claimed eight wins and two draws from 10 matches. The club sits second on the log with 26 points, one point behind South African coach Fadlu Davids’ Raja Casablanca but with four games in hand due to its participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Ziyech, who joined the club as a free agent in late October, has now registered one goal and one assists in five appearances for the club in all competitions.
The right winger was a key part of the Atlas Lions’ 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign which saw them become the best performing African team in the tournament’s history, reaching the semi-finals.
Struggles with injury have hampered the now 32-year-old, who missed out on Morocco’s home Africa Cup of Nations in December and January.
He will be looking to continue his fine form as he looks to secure his spot in Morocco’s squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
