Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has named a squad for this month’s friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 26-man squad features Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan in his first senior call-up after switching allegiance to Egypt, after representing France at the under-17 and under-18 levels.

Hassan, eligible through Egyptian heritage, had been targeted since last summer, with the move now finalised despite an earlier failed attempt in October 2025.

Notably absent is Egypt captain Mohamed Salah due to injury, as the Pharaohs continue preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

The Egypt friendlies are scheduled as follows: against Saudi Arabia on March 27, 2026, in Jeddah (at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium), and against Spain on March 31, 2026, in Barcelona (at RCDE Stadium, home of Espanyol).

    Egypt’s full 26-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El Shenawy (Ahly), Mostafa Shobeir (Ahly), El Mahdi Soliman (Zamalek), Mohamed Alaa (Gouna)

Defenders: Mohamed Hany (Ahly), Tarek Alaa (ZED), Rami Rabia (Al Ain – UAE), Mohamed Abdel Moneim (Nice – France), Yasser Ibrahim (Ahly), Hossam Abdelmaguid (Zamalek), Khaled Sobhi (Masry), Ahmed Fatouh (Zamalek), Ahmed ‘Koka’ Nabil (Ahly)

Midfielders: Hamdy Fathy (Al-Wakrah – Qatar), Marwan Attia (Ahly), Mohanad Lasheen (Pyramids), Mahmoud Saber (ZED), Ahmed ‘Zizo’ Sayed (Ahly), Emam Ashour (Ahly), Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan (Ahly), Omar Marmoush (Manchester City – England), Ibarhim Adel (FC Nordsjælland – Denmark), Haissam Hassan (Real Oviedo – Spain), Islam Eissa (Ceramica Cleopatra)
