The Football Association of Zambia has appointed George Lwandamina as the interim head coach of the Zambian men’s national team.

The veteran coach takes over from Moses Sichone after a disappointing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Campaign which saw Zambia finish at the bottom of group A with two draws, one loss and only one goal scored.

The departure of Sichone and assistant coach Perry Mutapa are the only changes to the technical staff, according to Pan-African football.

Lwandamina began his coaching career with Zambia’s U20 men’s side before becoming assistant coach of the men’s team and then caretaker manager in April 2010 until June the same year.

He returned to Chipolopolo in June 2015 as manager, but was dismissed in September 2016 after 17 games in charge.

The now 62-year-old returns to the national team after stints at ZESCO United, Young Africans, Azam FC and most recently Nchanga Rangers.

He will be joined on the bench by Power Dynamos coach Oswald Mutapa Jr., who will serve as his assistant.
